PETg 3D Printer Filament

What is PETg?

PETg filament – short for Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol – offers the best of both worlds: the ease of PLA and the strength of ABS, without brittleness or warping. It’s ideal for functional parts, enclosures, and mechanical components.

While PETg is derived from non-renewable resources, Filamentive PETg contains 100% recycled material, helping reduce virgin plastic use and lower your 3D printing environmental impact. Tough, reliable, and odour-neutral – a trusted choice for 3D printing professionals and hobbyists alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PETg filament?

PETg filament is Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol. It is a popular 3D printing filament, offering ease of printing akin to PLA, and strength comparable to ABS, without the disadvantages.

Why use PETg filament?

PETg filament is best used for 3D printing applications requiring more durability and strength than regular PLA.

Is PETg filament food safe?

EU Regulation EU 10/2011 sets out safety requirements for plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. Filamentive Limited declares that the version of its filament suitable for 3D printing, as mentioned below, complies with the compositional requirements according to EU Regulation No 10/2011.

PETg: Black, Transparent, Dark Blue are food safe as per EU Regulation No 10/2011.

The conditions and limitations of use for base polymers are defined as: “May be used with all food types, with the exception of foods containing greater than 15% alcohol, at temperatures up to 100°C followed by long-term storage at ambient temperature or below.”

When to use PETg filament?

Use PETg filament when you are 3D printing functional prototypes and end-use parts. It is the ideal material when you need greater mechanical properties versus PLA and also require added heat resistance and UV resistance.

Does PETg filament absorb moisture?

PETg filament is hygroscopic which means it absorbs moisture from the air around it.

To prevent PETg filament absorbing moisture, store in a cool and dry environment, away from UV light exposure. Filamentive include free grip seal bags with every order to aid storage.

How to dry PETg filament?

To dry PETg filament, dehydrate the material in an oven for four to six hours at a temperature of 65 degrees celsius. Please follow equipment healthy & safety guidance.

Is PETg filament UV resistant?

PETg filament is ideal for outdoor 3D printing applications because it is UV resistant – meaning it can withstand sunlight.

Is PETg filament recyclable?

PETg filament is a 100% recyclable material. PETg can be widely recycled at recycling centres but always check local facilities. PETg filament can also be printed, shredded and recycled using a desktop extruder to remanufacture 100% recycled PETg filament.
